The All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter, said on Monday that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has no chance of defeating the APC in the state and throughout Nigeria in the 2023 general elections.

According to the ruling APC, a political party that is clearly incapable of organising and uniting its membership in Imo in particular and Nigeria in general “has no chance of governing our people here in the State and Nigeria at large come 2023.”
This was stated by the APC in a statement signed by Cajetan Duke, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, and made available to DAILY POST in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
The release continues, “What is even more disturbing and a serious call to all well-meaning Imolites is the opposition PDP’s reintroduction of political intolerance, brigandage, and do or die politics into our democratic process – a situation capable of undermining the security, peace, and stability of our dear state.”
“However, it is regrettable to note that the Imo PDP and its leadership as it currently stands have lost sight of the value of public order, sanity, and human life, resulting in the elevation of political thuggery to a popular route for the acquisition of political and public office.”
“The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Hon MacDonald Kelechi Ebere, has observed with dismay efforts by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to institutionalise political violence, thuggery, and brigandage in the State ahead of the forthcoming general election and thus feels compelled to alert Imo people as well as the erring PDP about the futility of the step it is taking and the obvious damaging consequences.”
“Indeed, this warning to the Imo PDP was necessitated by the unpleasant and undemocratic disruption of the party’s scheduled presidential campaign council inauguration at its State Secretariat along Okigwe Road, Owerri, by gunmen allegedly hired by prominent but apparently aggrieved party leaders.”
“While the identity of the hoodlums’ sponsor (s) is unknown, there has been a deluge of allegations and counter-allegations from the Ihedioha-led faction of the party on the one hand and those loyal to the party’s Ikeduru-born National Secretary on the other.”
“It was gathered that PDP leaders, in a desperate fight against themselves, invaded the venue for the inauguration of the State presidential campaign council with armed thugs, forcing party men and women to flee for their lives with varying degrees of injury.”
“What has concerned the Imo APC is the opposition PDP’s proclivity to instil terror and mayhem among its members.”
“One then wonders what awaits the PDP’s non-members in Imo as we approach the 2023 general election.”
“We hereby request that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigeria Police Force, and all relevant security agencies, as well as all concerned stakeholders, keep a close eye on the activities of the opposition PDP in the State as we move closer to the 2023 elections.”
