“After May 29, I will be far from Abuja – Buhari:

President Muhammadu Buhari has stated once more that he plans to retire to his hometown of Daura in Katsina after May 29, 2023.

The President, who hosted some Federal Capital Territory (FCT) residents who paid him Christmas homage, expressed his desire to be far away from Abuja and the challenges that come with leading the country.

 

 

Buhari stated;

 

“I congratulate you on this wonderful occasion” (Christmas). I have promised many of my colleagues that when I leave the office, I will try to be as far away from Abuja as possible so that no one can cause me any problems.

 

“I’ll be in Daura, which is on the border with Niger Republic, and I believe that, despite technology, I’ll be safe enough there.”

 

The President also stated that he would not stay in office for one day longer than his term limit.

 

Buhari continued;

 

“In five months, I will happily retire in accordance with the provisions of the country’s constitution and return home.”
