“Aisha Binan: Dame Tallen’s nullification of the Adamawa APC governorship candidate is unacceptable:

The cancellation of Senator Aisha Dahiru-bid Binan’s for governor of Adamawa State on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been criticized as inappropriate by Dame Pauline Tallen, Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Tallen stated that the issue that led to the nullification is a party issue and that the decision should be overturned because the governorship primary election results made it abundantly obvious that Aisha won.

“All Nigerian women, as well as all men and women of good will, find it intolerable. We won’t agree to that. The verdict states that the party has no candidate; that is not democracy, so it is not simply a problem with the candidate or Nigerian women; it is a problem with the party.

“Why are they reluctant to let her escape? A primary was held, and it was quite transparent since top government officials who saw it attested to its cleanliness and transparency.

Dame Tallen pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari and Aisha Buhari to get involved, saying Nigerian women would continue to speak out “until Binani’s mandate is restored.

In order to further the nation’s overall growth and development, Tallen urged Nigerians to support female candidates in the general election of 2023. He emphasized that bringing Aisha to court was undemocratic.

Recall that the APC governorship primary election in the State had been declared invalid by the Federal High Court 1 in Yola, Adamawa.

The ruling’s author, Justice A.M. Anka, stated that the APC lacks a candidate for governor in the 2023 elections since the primary process did not follow the party’s rules and the constitution.
