The teenagers claimed they were held tied, undressed, and in a small laundry room where they had to remain silent the entire day or risk being thrashed. They only had a filthy mop to use as a wipe when they had to urinate and defecate on themselves.
They were only provided sandwiches with bologna, mustard, or relish a few times a week.
According to the authorities, they were determined to be badly emaciated.
The child discovered the key to their handcuffs in Duncan’s pocketbook and hid it in his mouth, which allowed him to escape. He then broke the zip ties holding his twin sister and himself together and fled the house.
