Inaugurating the LP Presidential Campaign Council on Friday in Abuja, the party’s National Chairman Julius Abure highlighted that the prosecution of the presidential election in Nigeria was not a simple undertaking and asked members of the Council to work toward fund-raising for the success of the party.

Abure urged party members, campaign supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians to work with the party in order to install competent leadership in the nation.

He pointed out that even while the party doesn’t give “shishi,” it doesn’t mean it doesn’t require money to successfully carry out its campaign for Nigerians’ interests and benefits in general.

“The party is in severe need of resources essential to prosecute the elections,” the party’s national chairman stated.

He claimed that the country’s presidential election is expensive and that the Labour party would have a difficult time taking on the major parties given their resources and willingness to use them in the election.

Although he acknowledged the big work ahead of the party, he expressed happiness that Nigerians have realized they needed to retake their nation because the vast support and popularity they have recently attracted demonstrate that they are prepared and determined to do it.

He emphasized that since the presidential candidate cannot lead the process alone, the party requires significant funding.

In his acceptance address, Mohammed Zarewa, the chairman of PCC, expressed confidence that party members will do all effort to support the Labour Party candidates in Nigeria.

Doyin Okupe, the campaign council’s director general, made a plea to the members of the council to take their duties seriously and put up great effort to help their varied constituencies contribute to the success of the party in the nation.

He promised that they will keep using as many volunteers as possible to assist make this party a success.
