According to Emmanuel Osodeke, president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the federal government’s successful pursuit of a court ruling caused academics nationwide to end their eight-month strike.

In an interview with Channels TV’s “Sunday Politics,” Osodeke stated that they are expecting the government will take the necessary action now that the strike has been called off.
He stated:
“Neither an agreement nor a comprehensive resolution of the concerns has been reached. As a result, we are continuing because we respect the law and don’t want to breach it. We are also expecting that the speaker’s promised intervention will quickly find a solution to these issues.
Osodeke responded when asked if this indicates that the lecturers are unhappy to be starting off again:
“Definitely.
“Negotiation is the best option in trade disputes, especially ones involving university academics, and it ends the conflict in a relatively short period of time,” he stated.
However, the labor minister thinks that making them attend class is the wisest course of action. It’s extremely unfortunate, yet our members will teach due to the interest of the Nigerian children, their parents, and the speaker.
Any nation that tinkers with education opens the door to insecurity.
“We want the incoming administration to dedicate not less than 16% of the budget to education, as is the case in neighboring nations. All of these issues will be resolved after this is finished. Our kids will easily make it to school.
