The 18-year-old Garnacho “has no ceiling,” according to Martinez, who came during the summer from Ajax, but went on to caution the younger Argentine that he needs to go above and beyond to make the most of his skill.
The young player was given his first start by Erik ten Hag for the Red Devils’ 2-0 Europa League victory over Sheriff on Thursday night, and he was a true firecracker down the left flank.
One of Manchester United’s most promising young players, Garnacho played for Spain in the Under-18 competition but has since switched allegiance to Argentina. He has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and is one of the club’s top prospects.
In an interview with ESPN Argentina, Martinez was asked about the youngster. He responded, “He has incredible promise and a promising future.
“Everything depends on him and what he works for, but he’s young, he needs to keep studying, and at his age he’s in a team that isn’t easy [to get into].”
“I advise him to seize the opportunity, pay attention, solicit guidance, and engage in more training. He has no upper bound. He will provide a lot to both the national team and Manchester United.
