Inuwa Abdullahi Adamu, the state coordinator for NDE, made the plea at the start of a 4-day Basic Business Training (BBT) in Kano.

Despite having a positive working relationship with the government of Kano State, according to Adamu, the agency needs more help from it to address the unemployment issue.

The Coordinator gave an explanation of how the BBT encourages participants to start small enterprises.

He said that the initiative, which is a component of the Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (EDS) launched by NDE to help young people become independent and improve their socioeconomic condition, will benefit 30 participants chosen from 8 metropolitan local government regions.

We also have a division called the Small Scale Enterprise Department. In that section, we ran over 6 different programs, and 308 unemployed kids were trained as a result. We have a department for vocational skills where we ran six programs. We trained 1998 unemployed adolescents as part of this program.

We also have a department that promotes rural employment. 250 jobless young people were trained as part of 4 initiatives we ran under this department.

Baba Abdullahi, the senior special assistant to the governor of Kano State on entrepreneurship and intervention, promised to increase the number of participants across the state’s 44 Local Government areas in his remarks.

In an effort to address the issue of unemployment in the state, he also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working with NDE.

In order to fulfill the program’s objective, he also urged the participants to use the training they had received wisely.

Saidu Salawu, a representative of the Director Small Scale Enterprise (DSSE), advised the beneficiaries to take advantage of the chance, which he called a “golden one,” to gain from the program.

He also urged them to put their newfound knowledge into practice in order to raise their socioeconomic standing.
