Suleiman, who appeared on Channels TV on Thursday, October 20, said there is no need to declare a state of emergency just yet because the relevant authorities have not shown they are unable to handle the nationwide flood problem.

This year’s flood tragedy has resulted in over 600 fatalities and over 2 million displaced people.

“There is unquestionably an emergency here, but what constitutes a’state of emergency’ varies.

According to me, we have not yet reached a point when the emergency management authorities are unable to handle this crisis. That hasn’t happened, as far as I know. If the situation was too serious for us to handle, the nation would have undoubtedly been declared to be in some sort of emergency.

He claimed that the flooding was primarily due to the unusually heavy rain. According to him, rainfall in the Northeast was four times above average. Although he stated that the Annual Flood Outlook report could not have foreseen this year’s intensity, he said that the government has an early warning system that is disseminated through it.

“This one has been awful. Our thoughts are with the flood victims. In essence, the entire nation has been impacted, he said.

Below is a video of him speaking.
