Governor Emanuel explained the gesture as part of Akwa Ibom state’s efforts to lessen the bad effects of the flood calamity on the people of Bayelsa to Senator Duoye Diri at the Government House in Yenagoa.
He also praised the Bayelsa governor for acting quickly to manage the flood disaster in the state, stating that this had increased the confidence of the populace in the state administration.
“The people expect to the government to come to their aid when a sad occurrence occurs, and I’m delighted that you have risen to the occasion and this has given your people hope,” he remarked.
In response, Senator Duoye Diri, the governor of Bayelsa State, expressed appreciation for the governor’s visit and presents and said that governor Emmanuel has demonstrated that he is a leader rather than a politician.
“You called on the phone when this flood happened, which I felt was enough, but this visit by you is incredibly emotional. By taking this action, you have proven that you can meet the expectations of transformational leadership. Leaders, not politicians, are what the world needs right now, and you have shown yourself to be one. I can guarantee you that the items you have given to us will be used very wisely and that our people are very appreciative.
“This tragedy has internally displaced 99 percent of Bayelsa’s population. Because all the transformers are flooded, homes are swamped, roads have fallen, communication networks have been disrupted, and electricity is entirely out. It is impossible to fathom the harm that has been done to our people. Therefore, we are quite appreciative of your amazing assistance. Senator Diri emphasized this.
