In a press release issued in Jos, Mutfwang expressed his distress and grief over the attack on innocent communities and urged security organizations to step up efforts to defend state residents who uphold the law.
“I was horrified to learn that there had been further murders and attacks in Plateau State’s Bokkos Local Government Area.
“These acts, which resulted in the cold-blooded death of seven people, are not only condemnable but also provocative. People are currently starting to adapt to These attacks have the potential to reopen old wounds and bring up unpleasant incidents from the past, when such occurrences were addressed with retaliation.
The targeting of traditional leaders—in this case, the two Village Heads who were killed—adds a new layer of complexity to the terrorist activities committed on the Plateau. It is incumbent upon us to comprehend the times when the guardians of our people’s culture, customs, and history are hunted down and destroyed. In order to prevent further escalation of the crisis, the Nigeria Police Force and Operation Safe Haven, the task force tasked with upholding peace in the State,
“I urge Operation Safe Haven to launch yet another public awareness campaign to inform the public of the need of using the supplied crisis helplines to aid in the event of assaults or security breaches as well as to provide early warning signals.”
Mutfwang urged members of the public to exercise caution and alert security personnel as soon as they notice any suspicious people, movements, or activities so that prompt action may be taken.
The Plateau State Government must fulfill its obligations, which is crucial. With the killings in Bokkos and the increase in kidnapping cases, the State is progressively opening itself up to criminal activity. Government cannot just watch from the sidelines, especially given that its main duty is to ensure the safety and wellbeing
citizens. This obligation shouldn’t be neglected in the name of 2023 election campaigns. Because our people are being murdered and kidnapped, the focus must shift to home.
Additionally, Mutfwang denounced the incident that left one person dead and several hurt at Fads village in the Jol Community of the Riyom Local Government Area and expressed sympathy to the victim’s family and the entire populations of Bokkos and the Riyom LGA, respectively.
