“Herdsmen killings: Coalition blasts Ayu for remaining silent about 36 victims found:

The Peoples Democratic Party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, has come under fire from the Benue Coalition for Democracy (BCD) for remaining silent over the recent slaughter in the Gbeji community, Ukum Local Government Area of the State.

Remember that Dr. Gabriel Suswam, the senator for Benue North-East Senatorial District, confirmed on October 21, 2022 that there had been a massacre in the Gbeji community, stating that 36 corpses had been found and that several more were missing following a deadly attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

However, according to BCG, the PDP Chairman, who recently had a falling out with the State governor, Samuel Ortom, as a result of the turmoil within the main opposition party, visited Benue on Friday but refused to denounce the heinous murders occurring there.

The group bemoaned the fact that Ayu was diverting attention by bragging about his position at the federal level when other problems plagued the State, including the most recent flooding crisis that left thousands homeless.

According to sources, Ayu claimed that he has the authority to thwart the governor’s political ambitions when speaking to his relatives in Gboko on Friday. Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, was immediately drawn to this claim.

On Sunday, Wike blasted the PDP chairman as a corrupt politician and dared him to take any action against the governor.

Aloysius Gbakaan, the BCG Coordinator, described Ayu as a cunning, dishonest, mistrustful, and manipulative person who had a history of destroying those who had supported him.

The coalition emphasized that Ayu’s actions toward the State were not unexpected and that his outburst “sounded like a military dictator who had absolute power under his grasp.”

Many Nigerians expected Ayu to visit Gbeji and express his sympathies to the families of those killed in the attack while denouncing the heinous act, according to the statement, which is partially quoted as saying, “As a man from Benue State and as the National Chairman of a political party that is seeking to take over the reins of power at the center.

He was also supposed to pay a visit to the flood-affected districts and comfort the residents. It wouldn’t have cost too much to provide the victims with aid. In fact, a selfless person would have invited Atiku Abubakar, his presidential contender, to travel with him to Gbeji and the flood-affected communities.

“Ayu did none of these things; instead, he stood atop the political platform in Gboko to criticize Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and other PDP members who called his bluff.

The Machiavellian Ayu. He is one of the sneaky, dishonest, suspicious, and manipulative types. He has a reputation for eliminating people who aid in his ascent to power.
