Assailants allegedly set fire to the building housing the high court and magistrates’ court in Orlu, Imo State, destroying some sensitive documents.
According to Cezza’s Blog, the development occurred just a week after daring armed men attacked the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Owerri, the state capital.
Barnabas Munonye, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Orlu branch, confirmed the incident and described it as a very unfortunate development.
He stated that the incident was brought to his attention by the association’s administrative secretary early Saturday morning.
CSP Mike Abattam, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, also confirmed the attack.
The police had launched an investigation into the incident, according to the PPRO.
