“Introduction of nominal fees in secondary schools not consistent – Gov El-Rufai:

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has noted that the state government policy on the introduction of nominal fees by the state Ministry of Education through the principals is not consistent and therefore, invalid.

Governor El-Rufai ordered all monies that may have been collected be refunded forthwith, adding that it should be rescinded with immediate effect.

An extraordinary meeting of the State Executive Council described as a legacy achievement of the state government, the provision of free education for the first 12 years of schooling.

 

Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, the Special Adviser on Media and Communication, in a statement on Tuesday stated that the memo from the Ministry of Education on sustainable funding for the maintenance of school facilities was discussed at the Kaduna State Executive Council.

According to the statement, “Executive council stated that the Kaduna State government will continue to faithfully implement the free senior secondary education policy and to discharge the primary responsibility for its public schools.”
