Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has knocked a Fulani herders’ union, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, over a comment credited to its National Secretary, Saleh Alhassan, linking Peter Obi with IPOB and Biafra agitation.
Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore earlier said it had instructed every Fulani in the country not to vote for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi.
According to the group, Obi is a ‘tribal bigot’ and represents ‘the Biafran interest’, which would not ‘favour the Fulani nation in Nigeria’.
But in a recent interview with journalists, Alhassan said he was quoted out of context.
He said, “I think this is a democratic space. Every group and individual has a right to his or her opinion. I also think that the so-called Fulani professionals or whatever they are called read the statement out of context. They should have, as is our tradition as Fulani, called me to find out what I really meant by what I said to PUNCH if they were really members of the Fulani community. I see them as hired goons and I don’t want to join issues with those people.
“I think my position was read out of context. If you look at the trend of the leading aspirants – take Peter Obi, for instance, who is from the South-East, his supporters are predominantly from the South-East. If you go to his social media supporters, they were hitherto the promoters of the Indigenous People of Biafra. All the Nnamdi Kanu supporters have switched to supporting Peter Obi.
“So, what do you make of that? So, it is not something that is hidden. It is all over. I am not being tribalistic or profiling a candidate. Every candidate has a support base. The support base of Rabiu Kwankwaso is basically from Kano, and the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Bola Tinubu, will draw most of his supporters from the South-West expectedly, knowing the nature of Nigeria’s politics.”
However, IPOB through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Mr Emma Powerful in a statement issued on Sunday, said the people linking Peter Obi with IPOB and Biafra agitation are doing so because of their hatred for Igbo people and their fear of Biafra.
IPOB asserted that they never linked their ‘Fulani presidential candidates’ to Boko Haram terrorists and bandits even when it is “evident to all that they are co-sponsors of these terror groups”.
The group disclosed that Nigeria is irredeemable, noting that if Obi believes in what IPOB is pushing for, he wouldn’t have come out in the first place to contest for Nigerian President.
It described the saying that IPOB has fallen into ‘Obidient’ structure as a joke taken too far, stressing that is an insult to the noble movement and the spirits of all their heroes and heroines who have paid the ultimate price for the freedom of the Biafran people and for the restoration of their sovereignty.
According to the statement, Nigerians should understand that not every indigenous Igbo, Ibibio, Anang, Izon, Ogoni, Urhobo, etc. of Biafra extraction supports the Biafra agitation championed by IPOB.
The statement read in part, “The attention of the global movement and noble family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership and command of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been drawn to the laughable and disgraceful statement credited to one Saleh Alhassan of Miyetti Allah group linking the so-called ‘obidient’ movement to IPOB.”
The group alleged that “Miyetti Allah is a known architect and breeder of many terrorist groups terrorising Nigeria” since President Muhammadu Buhari became Nigeria’s President in 2015.
It said, “IPOB knows that these terrorists masquerading as cattle herders constantly linking Peter Obi with IPOB and Biafra agitation are doing so because of their hatred against Igbos and their fear for Biafra.
“They never linked their Fulani presidential candidates to Boko Haram terrorists and Bandits even when it is evident to all that they are co-sponsors of these terror groups.
“Miyetti Allah, a known terrorist supporting and a terror-sponsoring group that the current Fulani Presidency of Nigeria elevated and stylishly glorified to the 4th level of Government are not well informed to know that IPOB does not engage in seasonal jamboree and selection process called Nigerian election
“IPOB cannot drag its hard-earned reputation to the mud of the farce called Nigerian politics. We have no interest to legitimise the Nigerian flawed political system by coming down to the level of their crooked and retarded political aberration taking place in and done by Zoo Politicians.
“Peter Obi is involved in and playing the dirty Nigerian politics while we in IPOB play advanced internationally accepted politics targeting Biafra Referendum. Therefore, Caliphate and their terrorists attack dogs in Miyetti Allah should face their political opponent and stop linking Peter Obi with IPOB agitation. If Peter Obi believes in what we are pursuing he wouldn’t have come out in the first place to contest for Nigeria’s President.
“The Nigerian terrorist government and their brothers linking Peter Obi with IPOB agitation means they have exhausted their blackmail against Peter Obi, hence they have resulted to tribal politicking. Saleh Alhassan and his Miyetti Allah terrorist group should stop exhibiting their cluelessness and stupidity in public because everybody knows their role in the current insecurities bedevilling Nigeria.
“Again, to say that IPOB has fallen into obidient structure is a joke taken too far and an insult to this noble movement and to the spirits of all our heroes and heroines who have paid the ultimate price for the freedom of the Biafran people and for the restoration of our Sovereignty.
“The Igbo people rallying behind Peter Obi are not IPOB members because IPOB doesn’t want the evil and murderous contraption called Nigeria to continue to exist and we must break disintegrated the Nigeria enterprise irrespective of whether Peter Obi or anyone else from the Biafran geographic space is contesting in the Nigerian farce of an election.
“Nigerians should understand that not every indigenous Igbo, Ibibio, Anang, Izon, Ogoni, Urhobo, etc. from Biafra extraction support the Biafra Agitation by IPOB. While some are in support others are against it. That’s the democratic nature of Biafrans which only a referendum will settle. Therefore, if Miyetti Allah thinks that every Igbo person supports Biafra freedom, then they should examine their brain in a psychiatric centre.
“IPOB is not interested in Igbo President or a Nigeria President from Biafra extraction. Our mission is simple. Nigeria must cease to exist as a country so that all the Nation imprisoned in it can regain their liberty, freedom and dignity.”
