The rapper requested his daughter Hailie Jade Mathers to cover her ears while he talked about his difficulties with addiction during his speech during his induction at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame over the weekend.
He stated:
“I am aware of what a gift it is to perform the music I love and what an honor it is to be up here tonight.
“Music very much saved my life… I’ll try to make this as painless as I can. I’m absolutely stuttering and stumbling. For a couple of reasons, I’m probably not supposed to be here tonight.
“In 2007, I came dangerously close to overdosing and it kind of sucked.”
Then, Eminem addressed his 26-year-old daughter, whom he has with his ex-girlfriend Kim Scott, and said;
“Plug your ears, Hailie. As a result of how tasty narcotics were. We seemed to be doing well, but I had to go and ruin it all. Goddamn.”
