A draft budget of N291,932,185,576.34 has been created by the Kaduna State administration for 2023 in order to support ongoing growth and development.

The recurrent projections in the draft budget are N126,833,534,781.40, and the capital estimates total N165,098,650,794.94.
In the budget for the following year, education and health account for 40% of the entire amount of N65.7 billion, or about 25%, and N23.4 billion, or approximately 15%, respectively.
Umma Yusuf Aboki, Commissioner, Planning and Budget Commission, explained that the 2023 draft budget was prepared based on macroeconomic assumptions and that these assumptions include the price of crude oil at $70 per barrel, the benchmark production rate at 1.69 million barrels per day, and the exchange rate at 4 per dollar. He did this during a town hall meeting with citizens accountability platforms in the spirit of the Open Government Partnership (OGP).
She states that the “budget draft for 2023 was produced with the assumption that the base effects would drop as economic activity normalized in the non-oil sector, implying that the economy will develop at a considerably quicker pace during the year in view.”
She stated that, similar to past years, the draft budget for 2023 being debated has been posted online as of a few days ago to ensure its transparency and accessibility for public examination, observations, comments, complaints, and ideas.
In a statement to the attendees of the town hall meeting, the governor Nasir El-Rufai stated that all current projects will be finished when his administration came to an end in a few months.
She outlined how the State government early on recognized the importance of including the public in all aspects of governance and purposefully institutionalized town hall gatherings as a forum for interaction, idea sharing, co-creation, and feedback between the public and the government.
According to her, the government’s initiatives and policies have remained people-centered thanks to these roundtable methods to governing, particularly in the spirit of the Nigerian state of Kaduna’s Open Government Partnership.
She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to seeing all ongoing projects through to completion before the change of leadership in May 2023 as it enters its last months in office.
