The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denounced the violent attack that occurred on Monday, October, during a rally for its presidential campaign in Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna State.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!In a statement released by the PDP on Monday, its national publicity secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, claimed that highly armed hoodlums who were allegedly supported by the APC’s government were responsible for the attacks (APC).
The unprovoked attack, which the opposition PR scribe called despicable, further revealed the APC’s plight, according to him.
The PDP explained that their opponents may have been intimidated by Atiku Abubakar’s continued support, which is the likely cause of the reported attacks.
“The APC’s goal for this attack is to delay the PDP Presidential Rally, spark unrest, bloodshed, and bloodletting in Kaduna State,” the statement said in part. This goes against the commitment made in the Peace Accord, which political parties signed on September 28, 2022, and which the APC presidential candidate brazenly skipped.
The brutal onslaught on the PDP Presidential Campaign by the APC, according to some sources, was led by the APC governorship candidate in Kaduna State, which should worry well-meaning Nigerians.
“The dissatisfied APC has now turned to violence and targeting our party members and innocent individuals to sabotage the entire democratic process after realizing that it cannot legally and properly sponsor candidates for the 2023 general elections.
“The APC is intimidated by Atiku Abubakar’s popularity and acceptance among the majority of Nigerians as a result of their belief in Atiku Abubakar’s ability, capacity, open-mindedness, and Pan-Nigerianism to unify our nation, revive our shattered economy, and ensure security of lives and property in our country.
The Nigerian people are already engaged with our issue-based campaign and Atiku Abubakar’s message of optimism, which is already reverberating throughout the nooks and crannies of our country, thus our Party is unfazed by such despicable attacks.
“The PDP salutes the bravery displayed by the people of Kaduna State in assembling in large numbers to thwart and overwhelm the APC and its agents, ensure the success of the PDP Rally, reaffirm their support for Atiku Abubakar, and emphasize that Kaduna State is home to the PDP, which gave Atiku Abubakar the highest votes in the 2019 Presidential election.
The people of Kaduna State should be reminded that throughout history they have never been intimidated or subjugated, and they will not be so now, especially given their determination to elect Atiku Abubakar as the next President of Nigeria.
PDP urged President Muhammadu Buhari to direct his party members and provide enough security to achieve a free, fair, and credible election in our nation.
