Along the Irele Ekiti-Oke Ako Highway in the Ajoni Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State, no fewer than four travelers have been kidnapped.

After attending an event in Kogi State, the victims were on their way back to Ibadan, Oyo State, when they were ambushed by a group of armed men and taken into the jungle.

Retired Brig. Gen. Joe Komolafe, the state commander of the Amotekun Corps, verified the occurrence.

Komolafe claimed that the operatives were already scouring the nearby forest for the hostages.

Kehinde Abejide, a community leader in Irele-Ekiti, bemoaned the attacks’ relentless nature in a press conference following the occurrence.

“Despite the public outcry, it seems like the administration is doing nothing.

“Even though we have already built local security arrangements here, it can never be enough to combat these guys.

He informed the News Agency of Nigeria that “there is a need for a military installation between Irele and Oke Ako to prevent attacks by these militants.”
