Following a tip to the Anambra State Ministry for Women and Social Welfare, the suspect, who resides in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area, was detained on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
When she learned of the complaint, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Hon. Ify Obinabo, she notified the NSCDC through her Sexual and Gender Based Violence Response team, and investigations got under way.
The NSCDC’s intelligence unit saved the kids over the course of the inquiry, and the suspect was taken into custody.
According to information obtained, the defendant has allegedly been abusing the kids since 2020, when he kicked his wife out of the house over marital problems.
Nwobi has been held for child abuse and molestation and will face charges in court after the inquiry is over.
The Ntasi Centre in Enugwu-Ukwu was the first place the kids were sent, and there a doctor on duty confirmed they had been defiled.
Fresh bruises and swelling on their private areas were present when they were taken to the hospital.
The kids admitted that their father often molested them and begged to not be sent back to him for fear of punishment.
The commissioner addressed the situation in her office in Awka and stated that she will investigate every possibility before charging both the husband and his wife.
The father refuted the accusations after being questioned, saying he was unaware that anyone, let alone him, was defiling his children.
He also vowed to take action against the source of the information.
