On Monday, October 17, the England winger showed up before the Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

According to Mail Online, both press people and members of his family were seated in the public gallery. As he entered the courtroom, the 21-year-old was accompanied by two dock officers.

Before the court heard the specifics of the charges against him, he spoke to confirm his name, date of birth, and residence at the outset of the session.

District Judge Mark Hadfield then put the case on hold until later Monday morning, when his bail conditions will be set.

The footballer was initially detained in January in connection with claims involving a young woman after pictures and videos were uploaded online. He had since been released on bond, but on Saturday he was taken into custody in the Trafford area for allegedly breaking his bail terms.

On Saturday, shortly after 4 o’clock, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that it had given the Greater Manchester Police permission to charge Greenwood.

Mason Greenwood, 21, has been charged by the Crown Prosecution Service with attempted rape, using coercive or controlling behavior, and assault causing actual bodily harm, according to Janet Potter, deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS North West.

‘The same complainant is involved in all three counts.

According to CPS North West’s difficult casework team, “specialist rape prosecutors authorized the charges after reviewing a file of evidence supplied from Greater Manchester Police.”

According to reports, the attempted rape happened in October 2021.

While the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm is dated December 2021, the controlling and coercive behavior is related to the time between November 2018 and October of this year.

The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all parties involved that the defendant is the subject of ongoing criminal proceedings and has a right to a fair trial, Ms. Potter continued.

“It is crucial that there be no online reporting, comments, or information sharing that could in any way jeopardize those proceedings.”
