“Mechanic bags 12 months: – jail for cybercrime in, Ilorin:

A mechanic who committed computer offenses was given a 12-month prison sentence by the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin.

According to a statement by the EFCC’s Ilorin Zonal Command’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, Adebayo Muhammed Bolaji, 27, of the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, was charged with two crimes and appeared in court on Wednesday, October 12.

 

Adebayo Muhamed Bolaji was found guilty of offenses touching on cybercrime and in possession of false cash by the trial judge, Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar, on Thursday, October 13. He was sentenced to twelve months in jail.

On September 15, 2022, Adebayo’s voyage to the Nigerian Correctional Center began when the commission, acting on information regarding the actions of some online fraudsters operating along Airport Road, Ilorin, executed his arrest.

 

 

 

The charge’s second count states: “That you, Adebayo Muhamed Bolaji, knowingly had under your control the sum of N3, 200,000 through your bank account number 2011025023 domiciled with Kuda Microfinance Bank Ltd, reasonably suspected to have been obtained unlawfully and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 319A of the Penal Code sometime in the months of September 2021 and September 2022 in Ilorin, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court.”

 

 

 

He admitted guilt to the allegations

 

Adebayo was found guilty and given a concurrent six-month suspended sentence on counts 1 and 2 by Justice Abdulgafar based on the defendant’s guilty plea, his confessional declaration, and the undisputed evidence of the prosecution.

 

The felon presented a Toyota Camry, an iPhone 13, and $520 as restitution, all of which the judge ordered forfeited to the federal government.
