According to Punch, the mother of five was declared missing after failing to return from her shop in Apapa, Lagos, on November 2. Her son, Daniel, is said to have last spoken to her around 10 p.m.
When Daniel and his siblings called her phone, the man who answered warned them not to bother him and said he was in Delta State. A report was filed at the Ketu Police Station right away. Last Friday, November 12, a police officer summoned him and his uncle, Emmanuel Iffi, to identify the body of a victim of a one-chance robbery.
One-chance is popular in Lagos, where commuters are robbed by hoodlums driving commercial vehicles, which are usually filled with gang members who pose as passengers.
“He (DPO) said the police had been unsuccessful in locating the corpse’s family members, and when he showed us the picture of the corpse, it was my mother.”
According to the police, she was stabbed by chance robbers and bled to death.
Her body is still in a mortuary, but we plan to transport it to our village for burial by Tuesday this week.”
