Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the general elections of 2023, has promised that, if elected, his administration will lead Nigeria to economic prosperity through the construction of a gas pipeline to export gas to the UK and EU in order to compete with Russia, among other economic plans.

Noting that Nigeria is endowed with a variety of solid mineral resources, with almost every local government in the nation boasting of one natural resource or another, Tinubu said that his administration would fully explore and develop these resources.

The former governor of Lagos State said his government, if elected, would prioritize strengthening the ongoing power reform, focusing especially on renewable energy development and finishing the Mambilla Hydro Power Project as a catalyst for industrialization, at an interactive session for the 2023 presidential candidates held on Monday at Arewa House in Kaduna.

The APC’s presidential candidate stated that he sees Northern Nigeria as a center for sub-Saharan African agricultural investment, with a concentration on the dairy sector as a potential employer and source of foreign cash for the nation.

He asserted that “our economic strategy would harness the tremendous natural resources we currently possess, through strategic investment in infrastructure, which will result in the diversification of the economy and the generation of riches throughout the entire country. For the benefit of our young people, we will pay attention to contemporary economic drivers including the digital economy, creative industries, sports, and entertainment sectors.

He emphasized the necessity for a long-term investment strategy, arguing that Nigeria should invest money in order to generate income, in order to compete with the Russians and export the nation’s LNG to the UK and Europe.

He continued by saying that his administration would keep looking into and making investments in the oil and gas opportunities in the Benue Trough, the Chad Basin, and other potential locations. He also said that he would see to it that the ongoing AKK project and the trans-Saharan gas pipeline were completed because the gas projects would hasten the industrialization of the regions and significantly boost revenue generation for the entire nation.

Nigeria, according to Tinubu, is sitting on a gold mine of natural resources, and he stressed that with smart investments in R&D and efficient management, Nigeria will fully explore and exploit these riches.
