In order to identify people who have been displaced or trapped by the increasing floods in Anambra, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Disaster Response Unit (DRU) of the Military have started an aerial view mission.

On Monday in Awka, Mr. Thickman Tanimu, the NEMA South-East Zonal Coordinator, told reporters that it will help with the airlifting of trapped people in the affected communities.
SAR operations have started today, according to the statement. Aerial view or “Air Recce” has been initiated by the Military DRU to gather imagery intelligence of the affected populations
To clear the way for air lifting, he stated, “this will help to identify displaced and trapped folks who need to be rescued.”
According to Tanimu, the relief supplies were approved by the Presidency and NEMA Director-General Mustapha Ahmed-Habib after expressing sympathy to the state administration, flood victims, and bereaved families.
On Tuesday, he said, the emergency supplies would be sent straight to flood victims.
“The flood calamity that closed the Abuja-Lokoja route and the security situation brought on by Monday’s sit-at-home in the South East are both to blame for the delay in the arrival of the relief supplies.
“The supplies for the relief effort should arrive on Tuesday and be prepared for immediate delivery to the victims.
He stated that these supplies were intended to “supplement the efforts of the Anambra State Government in giving immediate succor to victims and aiding their swift recuperation.”
