This was revealed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by Mr. Thickman Tanimu, the NEMA South-East Zonal Coordinator, on Monday in Awka.

SAR operations have started today, according to the statement. The Military DRU has begun collecting visual information of the affected towns through “Air Recce” or aerial view.

The flood calamity that closed off the Abuja-Lokoja route and the tense security situation brought on by the South East’s Monday sit-at-home protest are to blame for the delay in the delivery of relief supplies.

“The supplies for the relief effort should arrive on Tuesday and be prepared for immediate delivery to the victims.

He stated that these supplies were intended to “supplement the efforts of the Anambra State Government in giving immediate succor to victims and aiding their swift recuperation.”
