The declaration was made on Wednesday by Dr. Felix Ogedegbe, Chairman of the National Emergency Medical Treatment Committee (NEMTC).

The National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) committee was established four years ago, he recalled.

In life-threatening situations, the service will give access to first assistance and healthcare.

Nigerians who require immediate medical attention should use the three-digit number 122.

When individuals require immediate emergency care, the services will assist them, Ogedegbe said, according to NAN.

The official stated that the objective is for NEMSAS to develop into one of the recognized healthcare organizations in the nation.

In the Federal Capital Territory, trials have taken place (FCT). Calls are routed first to the communications center, then to the ambulance dispatch system.

“People who are in danger of dying or becoming disabled are not required to make payments at the time of need. They are able to request an ambulance.

Ogedegbe continued, “We expect that the lessons learned during the pilot phase would then be applied to rollout across the rest of the country.
