“Ogun monarch – allegedly blinds: – trader for dancing, with his queen, at a birthday party:

Wasiu Oduwole, an Ogun State trader, has cried out for justice after he claims that a traditional leader kicked him in the eye at the Moore Blessing Hotel in Ikenne in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State because he was allegedly dancing with the ruler’s queen during a birthday celebration at the hotel.

According to Punch, the celebrant, who goes by the name Iya Alaje, invited the king, his queen, and other visitors. Prior to the party, Wasiu disclosed to Punch that Yakub Omobolanle, the hotel’s owner, had hired him to make 14 plates of catfish pepper soup for the attendees.

The trader claimed that as he started to prepare at the hotel, he discovered that there weren’t enough ingredients for the pepper soup.

“Due to the hotel’s distance from the market, I chose to handle the ingredients. The hotel owner and the celebrant came me while we were serving the guests and explained that they had heard complaints from them about how poorly fed the pepper soup was.

I apologized and informed him that the components were insufficient. Iya Alaje, the celebrant, her husband, and a woman whom I had no idea was a queen were all there when I entered the bar after finishing cooking. The hotel’s owner was also there. They were instructed not to worry as I began to apologize to them.

When Nureni Oduwaye, the monarch, arrived, the party had already begun. Everyone was dancing as the deejay played music. The celebrant and the queen were singing secular music, which astonished me. People of their age and status typically don’t enjoy secular music, let alone know the lyrics, so I congratulated them for that, Wasiu added.

The Ogun State native spoke up quickly when the king asked him to identify himself. He said that he was the hotel owner’s younger brother. The hotel owner and the husband of the celebrant chased the Oduwaye, according to him, but Iya Alaje’s husband caught up with them and told them to apologize to the king.

He clarified…

“The queen was even wondering what I done wrong, but I went to apologize to him for the sake of peace. I started pleading with him when I arrived to where he was. I informed him that he was irritated that I was dancing with his queen when he said I did not dance with her.

He kicked my left eye with his leg as I tried to lay down to keep begging. Because of the severity of my eye damage, I had to be hurried to a local hospital and then taken by ambulance to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital.

The monarch only came to check on me once, and as I speak to you, I am losing my left eye’s vision. I can’t see out of my left eye. The police declined to conduct an investigation, therefore despite the crime being reported to the Area Command in Sagamu, nothing was done. On September 21, 2022, the incident happened, and I seek justice.

Shakirat, Wasiu’s mother, said that the Sagamu Area Commander was trying to cover up the incident and that the monarch was abusing his power to thwart the administration of justice.

“I nearly passed out when I saw my son in the hospital. When we arrived at the Area Commander’s office, Sagamu, I was crying and trying to explain the situation to him after I had been advised to do so, but he said we would have to resolve the issue.

He asserted that because he is the son of a king and the person accountable for my kid’s situation is also a monarch, we must resolve the dispute. I’m speaking out because I want justice for my son because the police won’t do any inquiries.

The hotel’s owner, who corroborated Wasiu’s attack, claimed the monarch was acting callously.

I had to explain to him that I was the one who invited Wasiu to cook the catfish and that he does not know his queen when I heard that the monarch grew upset because Wasiu was dancing with his queen. He was merely acting irritated. The king kicked Wasiu’s eye while he was pleading with him, as instructed by the celebrant’s spouse.

He was taken to the hospital by me, and I also paid the hospital bill. Wasiu no longer sees with his eyes, according to what I’ve been told.

SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police command’s spokesperson, confirmed the event.

“The area commander acknowledged that the case had been reported, investigated, and resolved. He claimed that although the monarch claimed to be ill and arrived in the evening, the case should have been charged to court on Monday.

He therefore instructed both parties to appear on Wednesday so that the matter could be brought before the court, but the complainant failed to do so. The case will be brought before the court if the complainant appears.
