“Only one solution to Nigeria’s problems has been revealed by Ogun Catholic Bishop:

The Catholic Bishop of Abeokuta Diocese, Ogun State, Most Revd Peter Odetoyinbo, has revealed the only way to make Nigeria a changed nation.

Odetoyinbo, in his 2023 Christmas message titled, ‘Let the Joy of Christ’s birth rekindle our hope’, charged Nigerians to change their attitudes first if they want a better Nigeria.

According to him, every heart must embrace a better attitude and lifestyle in the New Year for Nigeria to be a better place for all and sundry.

The Bishop posited that “if we desire a new Nigeria, then it must come with new orientation and attitudinal change.”

He maintained that Nigeria would not change if the citizens fail to lead by first changing their characters.

The cleric held that issues about kidnapping, vote buying, bribery, ballot box snatching, insurgency, forgery, banditry, robbery and other related vices would vanish “if every one of us decides to embrace a change of attitude in the new year.”

As the nation prepares for the 2023 general elections, Odetoyinbo urged both the politicians and the electorate to have a change of orientation, asking Nigerians to reject all forms of vote selling and incentives “by politicians who have turned our willpower to merchandise!”

“Do not sell your vote for pecuniary gains! Let us join hands to save Nigeria by electing credible leaders that will salvage things from getting worse! It is not enough to desire the joy of a new Nigeria, there is a corresponding responsibility,” he stated.

The man of God opined that the desired future will only be achieved when people go out determined to cast their votes for the candidates they believe can bring the dividends of democracy to their doorsteps.

He reminded Nigerians to go and collect their permanent voters’ cards and vote wisely in the 2023 general elections, saying, “We must therefore cast off the darkness of the night and embrace the new light of the day through the renewing power of the birth of Jesus.”

As Christians celebrate Christmas, he reminded of Christ’s second coming, adding, ”Let our joy be made manifest as we share with our brothers and sisters this season and always.”
