Adedeji Aladesawe, the Osun State Coordinator of the OPC, issued this warning in response to rumors that OPC members were involved in the murder of infamous gang leader Ojo, who had been terrorizing Ikire town for the previous six years.
Additionally, Aladesewa separated the organization from the ongoing instability that has enveloped the community in recent days.
The OPC leader explained the issue that resulted in the kingpin’s death and revealed that Ojo’s death was solely the consequence of a retaliation attack between members of the two terrible hidden cults that had been making life in Ikire intolerable.
Additionally, he stated that none of the OPC’s members were involved in Ojo’s murder.
“I believe that in order to clear the air on the Ikire crisis, it is imperative to clarify the facts. The rivalry between two infamous secret cult leaders was the cause of the turmoil that just engulfed the old village. The late Sunbo Atobatele was referred to as Small and Ojo in society.
“Sunbo was once a part of the OPC in Ikire, but he was expelled from the organization roughly six years ago due to his infamous deeds. He was a cult leader who had terrorized the populace and turned into a thorn in the side of the police. Atobatele was allegedly killed in Orita Merin in Ikire around twenty days ago by suspected followers of the rival cult led by Ojo.
My research indicates that Sunbo’s family informed the police about the incident. Even though three people have been detained in connection with the murder of Sunbo, both the Area Commander and the Osun state commissioner of police were aware of the occurrence. On this crisis, one Wale had been detained. Consequently, it was this competition mentality that ultimately resulted in Ojo’s murder by members of the late Sunbo Atobatele group.
However, he added, “because the inquiry is still ongoing, we will let the police do their job by locating the issue’s source.
The Osun OPC leader urged anybody disseminating false information that Aare Gani Adams commanded the OPC and was responsible for killing Ojo to stop doing so because it could jeopardize the ongoing investigation by the Osun State Police Command.
