Some self-determination groups in the country and associations have written to the 77th United Nations General Assembly not to believe whatever President Muhammadu Buhari would present to them as the current situation in Nigeria.
The groups comprising the Igbo National Council, the Middle Belt Patriotic Front, Oodua Peoples’ Sovereign Movement and others said terrorists and their negotiators had overrun the country, depicting Nigeria as already a failed state.

In a statement jointly released on Wednesday by the group, they  warned the United Nations not to be deceived, as the Buhari government had grounded the country’s economy and rendered many residents homeless due to persistent terrorists’ attacks.
They further claimed that the country’s heart and soul had been hijacked by a tiny cabal backed by foreign terrorists, who had continued to maim, oppress, and subjugate the majority of ethnic nations in the country in order to steal their ancestral territory

The statement reads in full:
“Arising from an emergency meeting centered on the ongoing 77th Edition of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), a coalition of socio-cultural and self-determination Groups from the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria has told World Powers and Leaders of Thought never to allow the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria cajole them when they address them.

“President Buhari is billed to address the 77th Session of UNGA today 21st September, 2022. The Oodua Peoples’ Sovereign Movement (OPSOM), Igbo National Council (INC), Middle Belt Patriotic Front (MBPF), Freedom from Nigeria (FFN), National Council for Women Society (NCWS) and other groups alleged that governance has been ran grounded in Nigeria, stating that the economy of the country is now bleeding and hemorrhaging under a unitary constitution in a supposed federal state.

“The groups averred that the heart and soul of the country have been hijacked by a tiny cabal being backed by foreign terrorists who have continued to maim, oppress and subjugate the majority of the ethnic nationalities in the country with a bid of hijacking their ancestral land.

“According to an electronic statement signed and mailed to our Correspondent from Atlanta, United States by their Spokesperson, Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf, the coalition said the Northern and Middle-Belt of Nigeria has been captured via state-sponsored terrorism while the South of Nigeria has been encircled by government-backed terrorists whose sole mission is land-grabbing.

“The statement also stressed that massive unemployment among the younger generation, hunger, poverty, insecurity, kidnapping for ransom and infrastructural decadence now pervade the face of Nigeria democracy.

“The Coalition said the 1999 apartheid constitution of Nigeria is fraudulent; a haven of corruption and an enabler of injustice, and unless it is disabled and the country is subjected to a referendum for the indigenous people to decide on their sovereignty, peace and development will continue to elude the common man in Nigeria.

“We are using this opportunity to appeal to the 77th edition of United Nations General Assembly never to allow themselves to be cajoled as President Major General Muhammadu Buhari address them tomorrow. We are stating without any fear or favour that Nigeria of today is a failed state in all ramifications.

“On security, the entire north has been captured with the middle belt while the south has been encircled waiting to explode. Despite its claim as the giant of Africa, the economy of the country is now hemorrhaging and bleeding. The economy of Nigeria has turned majority of our young ladies who are graduates to prostitutes.

“Empirical studies conducted by our research team shows that 6 out of 10 single ladies in Nigeria today are into direct or indirect prostitution while 4 out of married women engages in adultery mostly caused by poverty and hunger and unemployment.

“Findings of our studies also show that there’s no highway in the entire south and middle belt of Nigeria where a car can speed for 10 minutes without galloping, traffic jam or road block, thanks to the alarming state of decadence on our roads and failed security architecture in Nigeria.

“We also wish to let the world know that Terrorists and their negotiators now enjoy governance patronage and immunity in Nigeria. About two Local Government Areas have been over-ran in Benue, five in plateau and 4 in Nasarawa States by Fulani Terrorists masquerading as Bandits who kidnap for billions of ransoms and move untouched despite the thousands of armed military personnel mounting our roads in the North.

“The master of corruption in Nigeria is the 199 constitution that has rendered the federating units powerless and useless. The assets of the regions of south and middle belt have been hijacked to feed and develop the minority Fulani states who contribute little or nothing to the economy of the country.

“Nigeria is now gradually becoming the headquarters of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Africa with over five million displaced and Benue State alone having over one million in 27 camps within the state. Unfortunately, all the perpetrators of the massacres, carnage and wicked killings are roaming around the streets like state-boys.
“Our position, as we have stated severally in the past is a referendum to decide and establish our nationhood and sovereignty. We reject on behalf of the people of south and middle belt of Nigeria, the 1999 unitary constitution being used to govern Nigeria.

“We reject any attempt to integrate foreign terrorists into the Nigeria society, and especially in the Middle Belt to South as being championed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, and demand that all those that have been brought into the country via RUGA, be returned back to the African countries where they originated from.
“Nigeria is for Nigerians, and all Fulani’s around Africa are not Nigerian citizens, and no Nigerian money should be used to build them ranches, nor should they receive free land while over 90 Million indigenous Nigerians are living below the poverty level.

“We demand unequivocally, a referendum to be conducted in Nigeria so that the people who never voted to be called Nigerians could decide on their sovereignty or decide on the structure and system of government they want in line with democratic principles and we urge UNGA to prevail on Buhari to allow justice prevail in Nigeria.”
