The Peoples Democratic Party (PDPBoard )’s of Trustees (BoT) imposed the ban.
Remember that Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairman, earlier declared that Wike’s accusations against him were untrue.
In order to visit and handle the party’s crisis, the BoT had earlier formed a six-person Special Committee under the direction of acting Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara.
Members of the BoT who met on Friday to decide how to handle the ongoing situation were given the committee’s report. The BoT includes Ayu as a member
Reading the communiqué that was released at the conclusion of the meeting, Wabara urged Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and the Governor of Sokoto State, to summon a meeting of the governors right away.
But it also gave the party’s leaders the advice to “align words with deeds and, where commitments are made, to unconditionally fulfill same.”
The communiqué urged the National Chairman to “provide a solid promise that he would depart from his office after the 2023 elections, as an eminent leader.”
The BoT Chairman has been given permission to apologize on behalf of all members who feel defamed or retaliated against by public statements made by its members around the nation that have heightened tensions
The communiqué stated, “In the same line, the BoT Chairman has been authorized to express apologies on behalf of all members who feel defamed or resentful by the public statements made by its members around the country that has sharpened the current division in the party.”
The BoT also requested that Atiku reconsider the selections of the campaign council members and other advisory appointments to ensure their inclusivity.
The communiqué continued, “The BoT will bring some of these recommendations to the NEC of our party for note and appropriate action in due course.”
Ayu has previously denied receiving N1 billion from any party member.
Wike has accused the National Chairman of obtaining N1 billion from a presidential candidate in Lagos, N100 million twice from an unnamed PDP governor, and NWC funds for the renovation of the PDP’s Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI), which is its training arm.
