“PDP campaign – Reactions trail mammoth: – crowd in Uyo despite Wike, four other govs’ absence:

Reactions have lagged behind the massive audience that attended the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaign launch on Monday in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.

Five governors who were elected on the PDP platform avoided the event, according to Cezzatech, despite the attendance of nearly all national party stakeholders.

The governors of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike; Benue State, Samuel Ortom; Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu; and Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, were noticeably absent from the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s campaign flag-off.

The crisis engulfing the main opposition party amid demands for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, may not be unrelated to their absence.

Recall that Wike and his supporters have been engaged in a confrontation with the former vice president and Ayu since the party’s presidential primary contest, which resulted in Atiku being chosen as its standard bearer.

Wike had asked that he and other governors who supported him work against Atiku in the upcoming election until Ayu surrendered his position as the party’s chairman to make room for a southerner.

Aminu Tambawal, the governor of Sokoto State, and the governor of Adamawa State are among the PDP governors who attended the rally at the Nest of Champions International Stadium in Uyo. Alh Ahmadu Fintri, Ishaku Darius of Taraba State, and Udom Emmanuel, the governor of the host nation.

Others are Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Adamu Mohammed of Bauchi State, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, and Douye Diri of Bayelsa State.

According to Cezzatech, images from the event, which showed a sizable crowd of supporters at the campaign rally, are currently going viral on social media.

Despite Atiku being a Northerner, Mr. Micheal Okpowu, a PDP member, expressed disbelief that so many people attended the event when he spoke to our correspondent in Abuja on Monday.

“I have been stating that the general election in 2023 will go beyond tribe and region,” he declared. Our eyes should be opened by the size of the crowd at today’s rally in Uyo.

This is the way politics ought to be. That someone like Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, can visit Adamawa and be welcomed by supporters of his goals despite disparities in religion and ethnicity.

The majority of the attendees, according to social media influencer Kenny D, were paid by the party to give the idea that Nigerians want Atiku, therefore he claimed that the gathering was rented.

“You will be able to distinguish between individuals who joined in a rally voluntarily and those who did so for financial gain. They were all come to receive a portion of Atiku’s money.

“Supporters of other candidates go to rallies to seek money from their candidates whereas the Obidients are spending their own money to organize rallies for Peter Obi,” he told Cezzatech.

In response to Wike and the other governors’ absence, another respondent, Mr. Kolawole Akinwumi, a fervent Atiku fan, stated the Rivers governor would be shamed in 2023.

Nobody any longer discusses Wike, he declared. We can very plainly see that Atiku has moved on. Wike believed he would bring Atiku to his knees, but God is on his side.

“We all knew he was furious, but he took things beyond far. He presented himself as a deity that required worship. Such individuals are quickly forgotten.
