Haaland merely moved from Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad this summer.

20 goals have now been scored by the striker for City in just 14 games.

Madrid was another team with a strong interest in Haaland, and the Los Blancos are still mentioned in connection with a move for him.

According to The Athletic, his five-year deal has a €200 million (£175.5 million) release clause that goes into force in 2024.

Alf Inge Haaland, Haaland’s father, recently asserted that his son wants to “show his ability in all leagues” and gave his City tenure a time period of “three or four years at the most.”

If Haaland were to leave City, Madrid would be the most likely place for him to go, although Perez has taken steps to play down any rumors that the La Liga champions are considering a move.

“Erling Haaland’s release clause? Sincerely, I don’t know,” he admitted.

Real Madrid “has the best players in the world.”
