According to the Kaduna State Police Command, the state’s police have detained two gunrunners and a suspected bandit.

According to a statement made on Sunday in Katsina by the command’s spokesman, DSP Mohammed Jalige, the alleged bandit was apprehended on October 2 near Sabon Gayan along the Kaduna-Abuja route.
“On October 2, at around 1330 hours, the Police command, acting on actionable intelligence near Sabon Gaya along the Kaduna-Abuja route, stopped a Sharon car with the registration number MNA 819 NT driven by the suspect, who was from Minna, while it was traveling through Kaduna to Katsina State.
“One assault rifle, 18 rifle magazines, and 241 rounds of live ammunition were seized after a thorough search of the abovementioned vehicle,” Jalige stated.
He also revealed that on October 5 the command had apprehended a gunrunner and taken ammo from him.
“The agents, relying on credible evidence, had on October 5 intercepted a gunrunner from the Nigerian hamlet of Yan Siminti.
He said that the suspect, a Plateau native, was traveling to Katsina State to provide 280 rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition.
Jalige noted that on October 8, Command agents detained a notorious dealer of weapons and ammunition.
He claimed that the man, who is from Nasa village in the state’s Kachia Local Government Area, was carrying many live 7.62mm rounds when he was apprehended near Galadimawa village in the Giwa LGA.
According to the spokesman, the suspect was being delivered the hazardous things to his accomplices when he was stopped by the agents at around 11:45 a.m.
The suspect “admitted to having been in the illicit business for a very long period during interrogation,” Jalige said.
Mr. Yekini Ayoku, the commissioner of police, ordered a thorough investigation to be conducted in order to identify and apprehend all individuals responsible.
According to him, the reported successes would not have been possible without the necessary input from the general people, as well as the prompt follow-up and action by the Police.
In order to turn the tide against Nigeria’s collective enemies and retake the public space from them, Ayoku emphasized the necessity of strengthening effective teamwork.
