In 1977, at the infamous Kincora children’s home in Northern Ireland, Arthur Smyth claimed that the royal sexually assaulted him twice. Arthur Smyth has renounced his right to remain anonymous.

Two years later, the IRA bombed Lord Mountbatten’s yacht, killing the prince’s uncle and the second cousin of King George VI.

The High Court in Belfast will reportedly hear claims that he abused a kid at the children’s home, which has been the subject of numerous abuse allegations, according to Mail Online.

At least 39 boys had been assaulted at Kincora, according to a public investigation five years ago, four decades after three staff members were convicted for abusing 11 children there. The investigation criticized the authorities for their inaction, and the Royal Ulster Constabulary was criticized by the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland last year for its subpar handling of complaints at the time.

Upon entering the house, Mr. Smyth, now 56, alleges that William McGrath, a staff member, began to physically beat him.

He alleges that in August 1977, Mr. McGrath set him up with a “upmarket” stranger who twice took advantage of him.

You are going to meet a particular buddy, McGrath would remark, according to Mr. Smyth, who spoke to the Sunday Life. I responded, “Oh really.” At that point, he led me downstairs to a room with a bathroom and a large office with a large desk.

The name of [the visitor]was never mentioned in the space. He forced me to take a shower, after which McGrath would come down and collect me.

He alleges that it wasn’t until 1979, as a result of publicity surrounding Lord Mountbatten’s murder, that he realized who his abuser was

Currently residing in Australia, Mr. Smyth continued, “You never forget who abused you. Believe me. Although you ignore it, you do not forget. I turned it off for many years. Although I was ashamed of what had happened, I now want peace.

The Department of Health and the head constable of the Northern Ireland Police Service are two of the organizations named in the civil lawsuit against Lord Mountbatten.

This is the first time that someone has come forward to bring accusations against Lord Mountbatten before a court, according to Mr. Smyth’s attorney, Kevin Winters

That choice wasn’t made carelessly. Knowing well well that it will be a highly unpopular case with many people given how soon after the Queen’s dying it occurs, he knows this.

But “litigation involving mental, physical, and sex abuse isn’t done to purposefully insult sensibilities,” as the saying goes.
