The terrible condition of the roads in Anambra Status has gotten worse, and many drivers are now complaining about the state of both internal roads and federal highways in several of the state’s cities.

the Government House, in the neighborhoods behind the Government House, and in other parts of the State capital, such as Ifite, Okpuno, Mgbakwu, the Unizik intersection, and the villages in the Awka community.

Some Awka residents have expressed public outrage over this and urged the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to take responsibility and start demonstrating why he was chosen over candidates from other political parties in the November 2021 governorship election.

Mr Ejike . The condition of the roads in Awka is really getting out of hand, according to a driver that travels the Awka-Ifite route every Sunday. The state governor’s top concern each day is deciding which new tax to impose on the populace; nevertheless, he does not take into account the level of misery we endure each day in order to generate income.

“I only enjoy driving from Amawbia to Ifite when I get on the express at the UNIZIK junction and take it to Aroma. However, the roads from Amawbia to Aroma are very terrible, and the travel to Ifite from Aroma is the worst. Despite having the worst roads anyone can imagine, Ifite is home to several high-ranking government officials as well as professors from UNIZIK.

Mr. Joseph Abana, a laundry worker, added: “My shop is in Nodu, Okpuno, and I also reside here. Although we are aware that Soludo cannot be held responsible for the poor condition of the roads in Anambra State, we are nevertheless urging him to take action. The roads in and around the capital city of Awka are in terrible condition. The government must investigate.

A Cezzatech reporter who traveled through Awka on Wednesday reported that a number of highways, including some that are quite well-known, are in poor condition. Arthur Eze Avenue, which runs between Unizik junction and the well-known Eze Awka market, Oby Okoli Street, which runs between Unizik junction and Mgbakwu, and Ifite Road, which runs from Aroma to Nnamdi Azikiwe University through the back gate, are prominent examples of these connections.

Awka, High Tension road, which connects Aroma junction to Amaenyi, Dike street, which connects Zik Avenue to Sammy Sparkle, and Udoka housing estate are some of the additional roads inside Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital. Other highways in the state’s capital are also all but impassable.

However, Soludo, the governor of the State, appears to understand that locals are worried about the condition of the state’s roadways.

Recently, Governor Soludo proclaimed an emergency on the condition of the state’s highways. Road work in the State was marked off and promised to continue by Soludo during a recent visit to several villages. He described roads as a crucial piece of infrastructure.

The governor’s revolution in roads, according to the State’s information commissioner, Mr. Paul Nwosu, will not be over anytime soon.

The Ezira-Umuomaku-Enugwu Umuonyia-Achina road, measuring 12.5 km and 8 m wide, was given to Tamad Construction Ltd at a cost of N4,68 billion, according to the commissioner.

“This would help make traveling in Anambra State more enjoyable. The road will be finished in a year.

The Ozubulu-Ihembosi-Ukpor road construction project received approval from ANSEC to be awarded and start. Wakema Construction Company Ltd. has been given the 6.05km by 10m project, which will cost N3.9 billion and take 8 months to complete, and it has been awarded to them.

He added that the Okpunoeze-Nnewi Hotel Road in Nnewi was also renewed and approved by ANSEC at a cost of N1.7 billion, which was granted to Benejaf. He also mentioned that the Anambra executive council revalidated and awarded the Ukpor-Umunuko-Nza Ozubulu Road to IDC Construction Nig Ltd.

Awka, the state capital, has many impassable roads, hence some people have questioned the ongoing awarding of road contracts in the hinterlands.

“We hope Soludo won’t follow in the footsteps of his forefathers in the growth of Awka. Peter Obi made an effort when he invited UN Habitat to plan the State and pledged to make Awka the capital the State deserves, but he left office lacking the motivation to carry out the agency’s proposals. Awka became this filthy under his successor, who took over. We are hopeful Soludo can accomplish it, but he appears to have made the wise decision to focus on opening up the hinterlands, which is also wonderful, a local added.

However, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo isn’t giving up, as he has given more road projects in Nnewi his approval. A tour of Nnewi’s most dangerous routes, including Ogbufo, Okpunoeze Uruagu Nnewi, and Umudim Road, among others, was undertaken by the governor.

Speaking to the public on Okpunoeze Uruagu Nnewi Route, the governor explained that he had come to personally survey the road and gauge public sentiment.

“I can tell you that as soon as the rain stops, the contractors will start working on the road. This newly built road will extend all the way to Nkwo Nnewi and the Teaching Hospital.

“Roads that are really important to people’s daily lives are something we take very seriously. One strategy to establish economic development in the State is to guarantee that communities are connected to one another. Gov. Soludo gave his word.
