“Russia-Ukraine war: Iranian drone experts helped launch drone attacks against Ukraine – US alleges:

Iran is allegedly using military professionals in the Russian-occupied Crimea to help launch drone attacks against Ukraine, according to US allegations.

The accusation comes at a time when Ukraine has severed ties with Iran over claims that Iran provided drones used in Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities. Both Russia and Iran have denied these claims, despite videos posted online by the Ukrainian military showing Iranian-branded drones being destroyed or detonated in Ukraine.

On Monday, Russian-deployed “kamikaze” drones that were allegedly produced in Iran struck the Ukrainian capital of Kiev. The UK has issued sanctions against Iranian firms and people who are in charge of providing the drones, claiming that the military supply violates United Nations sanctions.

According to White House national security spokesperson John Kirby, Iranian military troops were present in Crimea and helped Russia with these activities.

The drones are being operated in Ukraine by Russians and a “very modest” number of Iranians, he claimed.

According to Kirby, “Tehran is currently directly involved on the ground and through supplying weapons that have an effect on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

In order to “expose, dissuade, and oppose Iran’s provision of these armaments against the Ukrainian people”, the US will “pursue all methods,” he continued.

The drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), used on Monday were Iranian Shahed-136 weapons, according to Ukraine.

Because they are destroyed during the attack, they are known as “kamikaze” drones, after the Japanese fighter pilots who carried out suicide missions during World War Two.

Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, has charged Moscow with planting explosives on a significant dam in southern Ukraine.

According to Mr. Zelensky, 80 towns and cities might be inundated by the Kakhovka hydroelectric power project, and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant could be left without water for cooling.

Additionally, it might cut off the water supply to all of southern Ukraine, including Crimea.
