According to devastating evidence gathered by the UN, Russian troops are using rape as a weapon of war against Ukrainians, having raped more than 100 Ukrainians, some of whom were as young as four years old.

Although more than 100 cases of rape against Ukrainians during the eight-month battle have been confirmed, according to Pramila Patten, a UN special envoy on sexual violence, the actual number is likely certainly higher.
She stated that victims have ranged in age from four to 82 and have largely been women and girls, though some males and young boys have also been reported
In what appears to be a “military tactic” to dehumanize people, Patten claimed that survivors have told her of genital mutilations and soldiers who are “supplied with Viagra.”
“It’s plainly a military plan,” she continued, “when women are imprisoned for days and raped, when you start raping little boys and men, when you see a series of genital mutilations, when you hear women testify about Russian soldiers carrying Viagra.”
And it is evidently a purposeful strategy to dehumanize the victims when the victims report what was said during the rapes, says the author.
According to a UN study published in late September, “more than a hundred incidences” of rape or sexual assault had been confirmed in Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February, according to Patten
She claimed that the investigation “proved crimes against humanity committed by the Russian military” and that the victims of sexual assault ranged in age from four to 82.
“Reported cases are merely the top of the iceberg,” she continued.
Because sexual violence is a quiet crime that is disproportionately underreported, it is very difficult to have trustworthy data during an active conflict, and the figures will never reflect reality, she said.
