It announced this on Tuesday in Osogbo during a press conference led by the Command’s spokeswoman, Yemisi Opalola.

Additionally, she said that the arrests were a part of the ongoing efforts by Police Commissioner Olawale Olokode (AIG) to purge the State of criminal elements, make it safer for all citizens, and sanitize it.

Akinola Michael, 33, was detained for conspiracy, murder, and armed robbery by members of the command anti-kidnapping squad in Ibadan following a complaint from a complainant, according to Opalola who was parading the suspects.

“On 4/07/2022 the complainant reported through a petition that, his son one Yakubu Zakariyau’m’ now deceased; who was a commercial motorcyclist in Ile-Ife in Osun State and Ibadan, Oyo State left home on the same date at 0930hrs after receiving an urgent call from an unknown number (08100079001) to come and pick him up,” says Opalola.

He never went back home after that, and attempts to find him were unsuccessful. After receiving the complaint, a Police Detective from the Anti-Kidnapping division sprang into action and was eventually able to apprehend one of the suspects, Akinola Michael, in Ibadan through a thorough and scientifically studied intelligence-led inquiry.

According to Opalola, Akinola admitted to killing the dead with Alekuso Rotimi “m,” who is still at large, using a hammer in the Ogundipe Zone II region of the Egbeda L.G.A., Ibadan.

She claimed that as the suspects were taking his Bajaj motorcycle, “they buried him with his phone in a dense thicket.”

For conspiracy and armed robbery, the command also paraded Damola Adebayo, 43, and Ifedayo Adesina, 33.

Opalola claimed that a report of an armed robbery event was received at Ibokun Division.

“On September 29, 2022, at approximately 9:10 a.m., the complainant reported to Ibokun Division that on that same day, at approximately 2:30 a.m., three armed men forced their way into their respective homes after smashing down their front doors with large stones and took their valuables, including clothing, shoes, a laptop, a television, various phone models, and a Toyota Camry car with registration number FST 969 GL that belonged to Aluko Tolu

She stated that the matter had been given to the State CID of the command for a covert investigation and that the aforementioned suspects had been taken into custody with the aforementioned Toyota Camry in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Additionally, the Command displayed Abdulafeez Shorinmade, 23, Sunday Johnson, 36, and Obisesan Amos, 45.

While Abdulafeez Shorinmade, a drug addict, was detained for the death of Rofiyat Rasaki, a 17-year-old woman, as well as for the alleged stabbing of 18-year-old Sawiyu Nasrup on her chin, Johnson and Obisesan Amos were arrested for the murder of Oladepo Asaolu, the Babaloja of Ora-Igbomina.

The Command spokesperson stated that the police have stepped up their attempts to apprehend both the fugitive criminals and other conspirators.

She added that following the conclusion of the inquiry, all suspects would face charges in court.
