Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The approval was said to have been granted at a meeting of the state executive council on Monday.
Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to the State Government, stated this in a press release on Tuesday.
“The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, will now be referred to as the Commissioner for Industry,” he said.
“The State Government’s Executive Council Meeting approved the renaming of the Ministry yesterday.”
He stated that the decision was made to allow the Ministry of Industry to focus on the governor’s industrialization agenda and to improve performance without having to worry about trade and commerce, which was previously part of the ministry.
This is because the ministry’s trade and commerce division will now report to the Governor’s Office.
“By implication, all activities relating to trade and commerce should be channelled through the Governor’s Office,” Chukwulobelu said. This reorganisation takes effect immediately.”
