CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Force, refuted this in a statement and asserted that the FCT is not currently under any immediate threat.
His claim is as follows:
It is shocking and depressing to learn from the news and social media that bombs are being put around the Federal Capital Territory, even by those who are regarded as Nigeria’s national heroes and peace ambassadors.
I don’t believe that continuing to disseminate such dreadful rumors will benefit either our country or the people of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) or Nigeria in general.
We will continue to stress that the Federal Capital Territory is secure and not under immediate threat, despite what has been reported in the media.
We thus implore FCT residents and Nigerians in general to ignore this false information, which was allegedly sponsored in an effort to incite fear among our people and stoke political unrest.
We’ll keep using all practical tactical measures to put an end to the nation’s non-state actor and other criminal elements’ operations.
