The world governing body’s warning follows several remarks made by Tunisia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Kamel Deguiche, about the potential for “dissolving federal bureaux,” according to BBC Sport.

FIFA member federations are obliged to act independently of all legal and political constraints.

FIFA has requested clarification from the Tunisian football federation (FTF) regarding Deguiche’s words and issued a warning of dissolving the office in response to attempts to meddle in the FTF’s internal affairs.

The FTF has also been reminded by FIFA that each of its member associations is “must by law to conduct its activities independently and without undue interference from external parties.”

In a letter to Wajdi Aouadi, the general secretary of the FTF, Kenny Jean-Marie, FIFA’s director of member associations, warned that any failure to uphold these commitments could result in sanctions under FIFA statutes, including suspension of the relevant association.

FIFA has given the FTF till Friday, October 28, to respond and clarify its position in response to the minister’s remarks.

If the FTF is sanctioned by FIFA, no Tunisian club would be allowed to participate in continental or international events, and Tunisia would also be kicked out of the World Cup.

Tunisia is in Group D for the competition and will compete in Qatar against France, Denmark, and Australia.
