The Minister of State for labour and employment, who is also the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council spokesperson, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has said that the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, is avoiding the media and live interviews because campaigns for the 2023 general elections have not started.

Keyamo said that when the time comes, Nigerians “will hear from Tinubu again and again.”

Speaking with Vanguard, the minister said, “Campaigns have not started. The nation will hear from him again and again and again.”

Recall that since his emergence as the APC’s presidential candidate in June, the former Lagos State governor has stayed away from media chats, press conference or any live interviews.

Meanwhile, his counterparts in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, have featured on several TV, radio, press conferences and other live interviews.

Recall also that rather than attend the last Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in August, Tinubu sent his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

This has generated discussions about his readiness and health status ahead of the 2023 elections.

SaharaReporters had in February reported that a video, which went viral, showed Tinubu with suspected pee stains on his cloth during a visit to the Awujale of Ijebuland.

Tinubu, who was seated on a black leather couch alongside some other party stalwarts had risen to give a speech but his attire had soaked from behind, particularly at the butt area.

The politician’s security aide was seen constantly holding his nose while looking at the wet area as another woman immediately wore her face mask as Tinubu rose up to speak.

Meanwhile, there have been concerns over Tinubu’s presidential bid considering his health challenges.

SaharaReporters had reported that Tinubu, amidst his bid in the 2023 general elections to succeed Buhari, spent over four months patronising hospitals in France, the United States and the United Kingdom where he underwent several surgeries.
